What is counseling?Counseling is a collaboration between counselor and client. Together, you and your counselor identify challenges in your life and create solutions to help move your life in a positive direction. Foundations Counseling lays the groundwork for individuals, couples, and families to strengthen their self-esteem, build better communication, and promote behavior change. We believe everyone has the potential to build a better life.

Are my sessions confidential?As a client, you are guaranteed the protection of confidentiality within the boundaries of the client/counselor relationship. The only limitations to confidentiality occur when clients are considered either a threat to themselves or someone else, or when legal requirements demand that confidential information be disclosed. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding our confidentiality policy.

Do you offer counseling to children/teens?Yes. Children and teenagers are often helped by having their own individual sessions, sometimes in combination with family counseling. Teenagers can play an active role along with their counselor in deciding what will work best for them. Younger children usually benefit most from play therapy.

What Insurance is accepted?We accept several insurance providers, including the following: Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) Blue Cross Complete Beacon Options formally Value Options Cigna United Healthcare (Optum & Oscar) We also accept some Medicaid. Please contact us to insure your medicaid is accepted. Private (Cash) Pay client is also accepted. For all questions, please call 313.778.3157 during normal business hours.

How can I schedule an appointment?Please call us at 313-778-3157 or contact us online using our Book an Appointment. We will make every effort to return your phone call within 24-48 hrs, and we can typically accommodate new clients within a day or two.
